KING HEDLEY II

Call-backs January 31st, 2:00 pm
King Hedley II is a powerful and unflinching drama from August Wilson’s acclaimed American Century Cycle. Set in Pittsburgh’s Hill District in the late 1980s, the play follows King Hedley II, a man recently released from prison who is determined to rebuild his life and reclaim his sense of dignity in a world stacked against him.

Surrounded by economic hardship, broken systems, and complicated family legacies, King grapples with questions of identity, manhood, justice, and survival. As tensions rise between hope and despair, Wilson’s richly drawn characters reveal the cost of deferred dreams and the fierce will required to keep believing in tomorrow.

Both intimate and explosive, King Hedley II is a searing exploration of resilience, responsibility, and the enduring search for purpose—told with August Wilson’s signature lyricism, humanity, and truth.
